Hi Steve:
After about 10 years as a news reporter in St. Louis radio, stringing at the P-D, and four years at the Daily Pantagraph in Bloomington, IL, I moved to Edwardsville as an insurance agent....I lost my shirt and in October 1984 I decided to re-enter journalism, and Bill Fuestel and Pat Gauen gave me a shot at the G-D....I worked for Debbie Wiethop on the Metro Desk for three months and then was moved to Edwardsville as Madison County Bureau Chief...chief of one, that is ;-->)....after a year there I was moved back downtown to work for the Illinois desk as a feature writer.....I suffered under Gluck and then worked under Prentice and Franke....until the bitter end....I went to the reunion and it was just great to see all the folks I knew from my short time there...and a chance to meet some of the pre-1984 legends....after the Globe closed, I free-lanced for a year and then went to work for Sam Smith at SIUE University News Services....we eventually changed the name to Public Affairs...I am now the director...I just had my 17th anniversary at SIUE....I began dating my future wife, Valerie Goldston, the same year the Globe closed....we're still together....
