The St. Louis Globe-Democrat
Submitted by yelvington on May 7, 2005 - 8:00am.
The Globe-Democrat was St. Louis' daily "Good Morning" up until 1986, when it ran out of money and closed. If you worked at the St. Louis Globe-Democrat or just read the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, you're welcome to leave a note here.
If you have any photos or scannable Globe-Democrat memorabilia, create an account and upload the images to your own gallery. Any problems? Email me using the contact form.

Community Fire Dept info
Submitted by sallybradley on July 14, 2008 - 11:30am.My father was a firefighter and he died in May of 1967. My son is pursuing a career in firefighting and was interested in my father's history as a firefighter. He worked in the Community Fire Dept on Lackland Rd in Overland. My mother has passed away and I do not have much info or pictures, etc. I read that the Globe did an article in 1964 on the new diesel powered fire apparatus the dept received. I am looking for ANYTHING that can give us more info. His name was Roy Daniel and I hope I can get some help. Thank you.

Such sad news -- Connie Karr, our dear former St. Louis Globe-Democrat colleague we knew by the byline of Connie Conroy, was among those who died in the horrendous Kirkwood City Hall shooting Thursday evening. She was serving her second term on the city council.
Days and nights on the rim
Submitted by CaliforniaMike on January 10, 2008 - 1:32pm.I'll never forget those hot summer nights working the rim in the sports department, in a building with no air conditioning. Herman Squeezingham, Marvin Potsterton, Arby Fallstrom, Tom Clone, Generic Face Offner and Agate Galarraga.
The 13-run pool, run by that great old guy whose name slips my 58-year-old mind.
Jack Farmer answering the phone, "Th--ports."
Myron leaving for home before dark because everyone knew his car didn't have headlights.
